When The Bayou Bandits dropped their 2019 single, “Take Me Back”, radio stations picked it up within 72 hours of release, and it became an instant hit. The success of “Take Me Back” landed them a spotlight in Comedy Central’s docuseries, Klepper, by Jordan Klepper (correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). It was later added to their self-titled album along with other hits such as, “Dixie Ass” and “Tip ‘Em on Back”.In early 2020, the band hit the road on their debut tour promoting their new album across the Gulf Coast. Their fan base rapidly amassed with their hits and then…before a sold-out crowd in New Orleans, Covid lockdown went into effect. In the middle of their tour, the band was forced to head back to Phoenix and cancel their upcoming performances.
Adversity and challenges are no stranger to front man, Joshua Strickland. After years in the US Army and a grueling tour in Afghanistan, he found his new career path in nursing. As a registered nurse in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, he wrote a tribute song to all of the front-line healthcare workers that were being flooded with patients.“A Nurse’s Story (Save You)” was released as an acoustic single in 2020 and immediately gained attention across the United States from fans and multiple state nursing boards and organizations. All over the nation, adoring fans were thanking him for the tribute song, as it became an instant hit with requests to get him on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The Bayou Bandits have not slowed down in the past year. They have recorded numerous songs and are scheduling more performances as places are opening back up. They are no stranger to sharing the stage with billboard topping artists like Jerrod Niemann, Steel Panther, David Nail, The Black Moods, Jason Charles Miller (Trueblood Soundtrack, Marilyn Manson, Godhead) and Jonathon “Boogie” Long, among others.Anytime The Bayou Bandits take the stage, it’s guaranteed to be a “Hell raisin’, Boot stompin’ musical throwdown.” From sold out crowds at the legendary Banditos in Puerto Penasco, Mexico to the famed Orpheum Theatre in Arizona, The Marquee in Tempe, down to The Basin Music Hall in South Louisiana, and to The Beauvoir Home in Biloxi. The Bayou Bandits make sure to give the crowds their absolute best. Treating each performance as if it were their last, they take nothing for granted and leave it all out on the stage.
